HIV Equal To Host Testing Event At Gotham Citi Nightclub in New Haven, Partner with AIDS Project New Haven, February 28th

Nightclub voted one of OUT Magazine’s 2007 list of 50 greatest gay bars in the world, celebrates 19 years serving the LGBT Community

(NORWALK, CT - FEB. 18, 2015) – Celebrating 19 years of serving the LGBT Community and at one of its final nights at its current location, Gotham Citi nightclub (130 Crown Street, New Haven, CT) will host one of HIV Equal (www.HIVequal.org)’s upcoming testing events on February 28, 2015 from 9 p.m. to Midnight.

As part of its continuing U.S. 2015 kick-off tour, and for the first time ever, HIV Equal, the international testing and anti-stigma campaign, will host an event during one of Connecticut’s most popular gay nightclub parties. The HIV Equal team of certified testers will conduct free, confidential HIV testing, while AIDS Project New Haven (APNH) (www.apnh.org) will be on-site to offer results counseling as well as confirmatory testing should any participant’s test yield an HIV-positive result.

“It’s always an amazing opportunity for us to work with so many diverse communities and testing sites across the U.S. as we aim to end the stigma against HIV testing and people living with the virus,” said Dr. Gary Blick, Chief Medical Officer of World Health Clinicians (www.worldhealthclinicians.org) and co-creator of HIV Equal. “We’re excited to be returning to New Haven time and again to broaden our reach and to get people the care they need to protect themselves and their communities from the spread of HIV.”

HIV Equal co-creator and celebrity photographer Thomas Evans will take over the popular Birdcage lounge to photograph participants as part of the HIV Equal campaign. Hosts will include popular drag sensations Malaya Love and Tiana Maxim Rose, who will also be performing on-stage.
