Meet Stephen

Meet Stephen

I am Human. I am HIV Equal. We all go through something in our lives. Sometimes that something is good. Sometimes it’s not-so-good. But regardless of the emotions we place on that something, we have to appreciate life for what it is because of many reasons; one of those being that we learn from every experience. Being HIV-negative is being human. Being HIV-positive is being human. No matter our status, and no matter the circumstances under which we acquire or do not acquire HIV, we are all human beings and we all gain something out of our unique lives. There are more important things to worry about, to focus on or to enjoy than our HIV status. I believe that life is beautiful, and it wouldn’t be as beautiful if you weren’t

Meet Nelson

Meet Nelson

Nelson I'm originally from Colombia, but a citizen of the world. I have lived on both coasts but NYC is  home now . Proud resident of  Williamsburg, Brooklyn.    I love to connect with people, learn from others, and share experiences.  I work as a management consultant and a lso  lead an amazing group of volunteers called Impulse Group NYC. Together we host events and develop campaigns to raise awareness about HIV and sexual responsibility. I chose 'Revolutionary" because I like to  challenge perspectives, push the envelope, think outside the box, and believe  it's dangerous to be "too socially and politically  correct" because that prevents transparency and open dialogue.   I am HIV equal because

Meet Jayce

Meet Jayce

Jayce There are several semidramatic words I could have chosen that would perfectly describe where I mentally am right know, but above all I am truly "grateful". As a Beyoncé loving little boy, I never dreamed I would one day have a career where I was able to save lives by doing what I love to do... Talk! Kiss & Tell Networks is all about creating conversation not only for the LGBT community, but for anyone willing to listen, share, and realize that we are not all that different. From pop culture to politics we all have an option and a variety of backgrounds that mold our outlook on society.  I am HIV equal because I know my status and that doesn't make me any better or worse than the person standing next to me on the 6 train

Meet Jamil

Meet Jamil

Jamil I’m Jamil Eric Wilkins--my dearest friends call me “Jam,” and not just because I enjoy having a good time. There were times when I refused to accept the the gravity of life-changing events (many were unexpected and unfortunate) as the negative thoughts—hatred, anger, regret—betrayed my understanding of true worth. As an avid runner, I was, and still am, empowered with the strength and courage to fight for a new destiny, one where I took full responsibility for the actions that would improve my situation. I'm a pretty passionate individual, so fire adds spark to my personality and all that I do. The same fire compels me to keep moving forward despite the [temporary] pain and seek new adventures. So here I am

Meet Sony

Meet Sony

Sony  Why I chose, “Authentic,” - it is because I live my life being true to who I am and there isn’t anyway better to live. I see the world and the person I have grown up to be as amazing, regardless, of the adversity I face and continue to face. As a result, that is why I chose to involve myself in HIV Equal’s campaign. I believe everyone should be treated equally and with respect. This cause exemplifies exactly that - to treat others as you would treat yourself. I am currently an engineering student and work as an LGBT activist as well. I have the pleasure to work alongside the Provost, Dean of Students and Vice President of Student Affairs, as well as other faculty at my University in order to implement policy change, create

Meet Joe

Meet Joe

Joe  I'm a Peer Navigator, here at Pride For Youth/MPowermentLI. Being a peer navigator means that I work part time as staff, and part time as a participant. How that works is that I gain knowledge from my peers and find out exactly what services are needed, or improved, for the future LGBTQ+ participants to come. I am HIV equal, because I believe that no matter what your status is, whether positive, negative or undetectable, we all have the right love with out stigma. I chose my word Supporter, because I have a passion for HIV prevention. Everyone has a right to safe sex education. #iamhivequal #hivequal

Meet Jill

Meet Jill

Jill  I am from Long Beach, NY, and I am HIV equal. As a long time member of the LGBTQ community I have first hand seen the effects of HIV. The fear and stigma that our community faces is disheartening. I believe that we need to band together, rise above the stigma, and promote happy and healthy living. I have been working with LGBTQ youth, spreading empowering messages and offering support for the past 6 years. Currently I am the HIV Navigator at Pride for Youth, a community based LGBTQ youth center in Long Island, NY. Unfortunately, I keep hearing about young people’s traumatic experiences with their health care. They are fighting stigma from the professionals that are supposed to be helping them either treat HIV or
